Nothing epitomizes Hyderabad like the 16th-century ceremonial gateway, Charminar. Learn about this symbol of the city from the QutbShahi dynastic era and Nizami periods down to its current status on the official emblem of the Telengana government. The four main streets radiating out from the Charminar are still littered with shops, serais, bathhouses and mosques, as they were centuries ago.
A stroll along the ancient streets offers captivating glimpses into everyday life. Locals crowd at favourite food stalls, coloured glass vials of Ittar fill shelves of perfumeries, traditional craft lives on in zardosi workshops and old-world glamour of glass bangles tempts women at Laad Bazaar. Soak up all the colours, aromas and sounds of the bustling, historic neighbourhood.
The area is home to Mecca Masjid, the oldest and the largest mosque of India, the historic arch of Shahi Jilu Khana and the historical five-storied Mehboob Chowk Clocktower. The walk will take you past the meat market and birds market to cover other noteworthy landmarks like Homeopathy Hospital, Chowk Mosque, Abdarkhana, Asman Jah Deodi, Khurshid Jah Deodi and Iqbal-ud-daulahDeodi.
Finally, keep curious eyeballs on alert for the opulent Chowmahalla Palace. Inspiredby the Tehran Palace of the Shah of Iran, it is the epitome of elegance with its courtyards, gardens and fountains. The Durbar Hall showcases the opulent lifestyles of the Nizams, with its 19 Belgian crystal chandeliers, marble throne, and elaborate stucco ceiling.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. The food, chef, and his wife were all exceptional and made for a lovely evening. Also, our expectations were definitely exceeded at a private residence, spending time with the elephants and lunching. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
