Learn about the deep roots of the historic city of Hyderabad, ruled by the Kakatiya, QutbShahi and AsafJahi dynasties with a private half-day car tour of Golconda Fort and QutbShahi Tombs.
Much credit to Hyderabad’s past glory goes to the Qutb Shahi dynasty, which ruled the area during the 16th and 17th centuries. Aspatrons of art, architecture and culture, Qutb Shahi rulers built several iconic monuments that are emblems of the current city. Two of the prime examples are Golconda Fort and the QutbShahi Tombs.
One of the most impressive fortified citadels in India and the seat of power for the QutbShahi rulers, Golconda is a treat for history buffs. Devote time to admire its sheer scale, engineering prowess and fascinating legends, including that of the Kohinoor diamond. In its heyday, Golconda Fort functioned as a self-contained city and housed barracks, mosques, stables, bathhouses, reservoirs, bazaars and residential areas. The hilltop pavilion, standing at a height of 130 meters has a commanding view of the surroundings.
Located nearby is the 100-acre site of the Qutb Shahi Tombs, the final resting place of the seven Qutb Shahi rulers, their family members, courtesans and eminent citizens. Landscaped gardens provide a serene backdrop to the mausoleums etched with Islamic phrases and embellishments. Elements inspired by Hindu temple architecture are unmistakable.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
