Victoria Memorial, one of the most well-recognized monuments of Kolkata was built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s 25-year reign in India. The edifice hogs the limelight with a massive dome, four octagonal domed chattris, high portals and corner towers.
The famous Jain Temple includes four buildings withfinely sculpted pillars and stained glass. The piece de resistance is a ghee lamp, which has been burning since the site opened in 1867.

Passing over the Hooghly River, the Howrah Bridgeis an example of engineering as the world’s third-longest cantilever bridge, constructed without any nuts and bolts. A drive through the busy bridge is an experience in itself !
