15th-century bastion of Rao Jodha, Jodhpur is a heritage hunter’s haven. Medieval magic unfolds seductively in the old historic centre, which is spread over 2 square kilometres and enclosed by six monumental Pols (gates). Wandering in the warren of densely packed streets is like walking back in time, in an ancient settlement where life is woven into the fabric of revered temples, grand step wells and crumbling mansions. There are no monumental landmarks to gloat about, but the artistic finesse of gateways, window balconies and friezes will tug at your heartstrings.
At Sardar Market, trade bazaars beckon from narrow alleyways and an endless array of shops stock everything from puppets, textiles, footwear and spices to jewellery, artefacts, grains and sweets. In Brahmapuri, the old Brahmin neighbourhood, boxy houses splashed in indigo hues keep homes cool, repel bugs and add a touch of whimsy drama. Expect to encounter women in vivid attires, men in elaborate turbans, honking traffic punctuated by cattle and an air of infectious exuberance.
The heritage walk in the Old Walled City of Jodhpur starts from Fateh Pole (back gate of Mehrangarh Fort). Among the landmarks covered on the trail are Ranisar and Padamsar Lakes, Navchokia, Chand Baori, Jetha Bera, Mohnoton Ki Pol, Jaisalmerio Ki Gali, Singhvi Haveli, Singh Pol, Taleti Ka Mahal, Juni Dhan Mandi, Ghanshyam / Gangashyam Mandir, Ramrosara and Clock Tower.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. The food, chef, and his wife were all exceptional and made for a lovely evening. Also, our expectations were definitely exceeded at a private residence, spending time with the elephants and lunching. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
