As a leading handicraft hub, the land of Nizams continues to encourage and promotes local skills in Bidri-ware, jewellery, textiles and sculpture among many others. Explore the eclectic mix of craftsmanship in Hyderabad on this tour.
For a heady dose of culture, indulge in an engrossing art and craft trail through Hyderabad in the bazaars around Charminar in the historic heart of the city. Visit the home of a family skilled in Ikat, block printing and screen printing and delve into the age-old artistry of the handloom tradition.
More gems are in store during the day, including a lac bangle making unit and a bidri (metalwork) workshop. Bidri-ware, is an indigenous metalwork tradition, in which zinc and copper are inlaid with pure silver with delicate precision. Originated in the 14th-15th centuries, it represents a delightful blend of Persian, Arabic and Turkish motifs. Vases, goblets, jewellery boxes or wine decanters in black and silver make elegant accessories for home decor.
Also on the agenda is a halt at a Zardosi (embroidery) unit to witness an opulent-styled embroidery technique that uses silk threads and embellishments like sequins, beads, precious and semi-precious stones. The simple but large motifs draw inspiration from foliage, animals and birds.
All workshops have their own retail outlets, where you can shop as a token of support for the craft.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. The food, chef, and his wife were all exceptional and made for a lovely evening. Also, our expectations were definitely exceeded at a private residence, spending time with the elephants and lunching. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
