One of the essential experiences during a trip to India involves sampling the multitudes of the country’s cuisine. Skip the restaurants and consider an immersive culinary experience at the home of a local host. Warm hospitality, personal attention and one-to-one interaction with the home chef will provide a rare perspective that is missing while dining in a restaurant.
Accompany the lady of the house to the local vegetable and spice market, learn about local produce and help in making decisions about what to buy. Later, while your host is preparing the ingredients for the dishes, listen to interesting tidbits that go back in time to several generations. Your host may share information about special family dishes, as well as incidents relating to them, while you learn to cook classic vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Take the opportunity to converse about Mewari and Rajasthani cuisine as well as traditions related to food.
Later, join your host for a fine dining experience at the dining table and relish the freshly prepared authentic dishes, along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
