Every ancient city has its living traditions firmly rooted in the past and the Pink City of Jaipur is no exception. Once you have had your fill of Jaipur’s rich cuisine, royal legacy and landmark architecture, seek out its colourful culture and belief systems, which still thrive in the old quarters, and the backstreets. This early morning tour of the temples in the Walled City precinct is designed to reveal the nuances of the faith and religion of resident communities.
Religion unites communities with an invisible thread and offers unique insights into the age-old lifestyle and beliefs of the locals. Set off on a spiritual journey into the oldest neighbourhood of Jaipur with an expert guide to delve deeper into the faith of its people.
The city tour starts at the flower market, an apt spot to witness devotees buying fresh flowers for deities, an important part of the Hindu prayer ritual. After this, as you set off on a temple hop, learn about temple architecture, the significance of different deities and the popular legends associated with Gods and Goddesses.
Understand the importance of having a small temple inside homes as a symbol of divinity. Know more about the concept of KulDevta (family deity), which is typical in the state of Rajasthan. You will have the chance to visit a temple inside the house of a local family, interact with the hosts and imbibe the atmosphere of a typical Indian home. During the tour, you may witness a morning Aarti (ritual of worship) at one of the temples, with accompanying prayer songs and lighting of lamps.
The walking tour ends with high tea, hospitality and a heart-to-heart conversation about history and tradition at the private home of a noble family of the erstwhile Jaipur state.

As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
