Like all regions of Rajasthan, Jodhpur has a distinctive cuisine, which reflects the topography, climate and vegetation. Unusual ingredients, rich flavours, spicy curries and melt-in-the-mouth sweets are the staples of food in the state’s second-largest city. Scarcity of water necessitates the use of milk, yoghurt or buttermilk as the base for gravy. Indigenously grown lentils, legumes and millets are used abundantly to balance the nutritional value of meals. Elevate your senses with the fresh flavours of Rajasthan by immersing in an intimate dining experience at the home of a Jodhpur local.
Join your host in the warm comfort of the kitchen and watch the delicious Jodhpuri dishes being cooked from scratch. Your host will provide live commentary on the cooking process, offer details of the recipes and acquaint you to the use of ingredients, spices and techniques as you look on curiously.
Some of the classic dishes that you can expect to see being whipped up are Ker Sangri (a traditional Rajasthani dish made with dried Ker Berry and Sangri beans), Gatte ki Sabzi (gram flour dumplings in a yoghurt gravy), Lal Maas (spicy, tender, slow-cooked mutton gravy) and Laapsi (a dessert made with nuts, wheat and ghee).
