The 16th-century capital of the mighty Mughal Empire in India once held the world captive with its imperial architecture, flourishing industry and thriving arts. The glory of those times has long faded into the pages of history. But the small town of Agra remains a proud symbol of Indian splendour, thanks to its two world-famous architectural icons, the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort.
Set off in the morning to witness the sheer white perfection of the Taj Mahal and expect to be overwhelmed. Standing on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, this masterpiece of heritage and architecture is an eternal ode to love. The all-white marble mausoleum of Empress Mumtaz Mahal, constructed in her memory by her doting husband, Emperor Shah Jahan, is a story of a tragic romance that touches every heart, generation after generation.
During the tour, you will explore the monument and gardens of the complex, spending time poring over the intricate carvings and calligraphy that adorn the magnificent building.
The tour continues to the splendid Agra Fort, whose red sandstone walls rise 70 feet and stretch for 2.5 kilometres along the banks of the River Yamuna. Let your guide enthrall you with dynastic tales of conquests, intrigue and indulgences as you explore the courtyards and ramparts of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The Peacock Hall and the Hall of Public Audience are worthy pitstops along the way. Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. The food, chef, and his wife were all exceptional and made for a lovely evening. Also, our expectations were definitely exceeded at a private residence, spending time with the elephants and lunching. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
