Resplendent history, grand architecture, colourful costumes, rich cuisine and a splendorous royal lineage, make Jaipur one of the most loved destinations of India. Founded by Maharaja Jai Singh, it holds the distinction of being the country’s first planned city, thanks to the 18th-century blueprint of Sawai Jai Singh II. The lure of the pink painted facades, wide roads and lively trade bazaars (markets) of the old Walled City never fades, and the ancient monuments continue to dazzle even more with time.
The essence of Jaipur still lives on in its local markets and grand monuments. But Rajasthan’s capital is also famous for being the first planned city of India, where the grid-like roads and symmetry of architecture reflect the foresight of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The best example of this blueprint is the Walled City, now a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, where trade-specific markets of spices, vegetables, fruits, jewellery, artefacts and textile thrive.
In this enticing heritage walking tour, drown in the lively chatter and be dazzled by the array of wares, see artisans at work, haggle with shopkeepers, get familiar with local crafts. Soak in unfamiliar sights, sounds and aromas of the vegetable and spice markets, see people queuing up at street food stalls, visit a family-owned sweet shop and pick up stock for your kitchen shelves back at home.
During the day tour, you will also have the opportunity to drop into some local temples, and witness the religious life of local communities. Understand Hindu temples architecture, and learn about regional faith, symbolism and core beliefs surrounding them.
At the end of the walk, you can look forward to being welcomed into the private ancestral home of a noble family of the former Jaipur state, sharing a cup of tea with the hosts and engaging in a conversation to hear engrossing tales of royalty, valour and history.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
