The classic elegance of the Jaipur’s Amer Fort is enhanced by the ‘Great Wall of Amer’, which stretches for several kilometres along the jagged ridges of the Aravalli Mountains. Originally built as the first line of defense for the Amer Fort and Jaipur City, these stony ramparts are still the third-longest wall in the world. The early morning Amer Trek along secluded trails is dotted with vantage points to enjoy the grace of the mountainous terrain of the area, where the majestic fort-palace stands studded like a precious jewel.
Join a naturalist guide on a trek through the Aravalli Mountains, for a unique perspective on Jaipur and its rich historical past. Start at the 8-level Panna Meena step-well in Amber town, a great example of architecture typical of the region. Interact with villagers belonging to the ancient Meena tribe, that represent the essence of rural Rajasthan.
The walking tour begins along a historic path, which was used to transport cannons and also as a channel for rainwater to flow down to the ancient lake. The first scenic point adjoining the ancient fort wall and gate looks down upon a vast sprawl of land speckled with tiny villages. Stop to study cenotaphs and shrines that were used as path markers for travellers. Next up is a vantage point with a picture-postcard view of Amber town and the fort.
Rest with a tea/coffee break and hear stories and legends associated with the heritage of Amer. En route, there may be a chance to witness peacocks and migratory birds or even a blue bull. Return energized by the trek and inspired by the memory of grand gateways, pillared pavilions and rugged ramparts that remind of Amer’s glory.

Thank you for a wonderful trip to Kerala. We loved the village life walk and Fort Cochin walk. The backwater cruise in a traditional country boat was an incredible experience. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and was exceptionally well taken care of. The cooking class in Jaipur was extremely enjoyable. The food, chef, and his wife were all exceptional and made for a lovely evening. Also, our expectations were definitely exceeded at a private residence, spending time with the elephants and lunching. Thanks for organising a great trip to Lucknow and Varanasi. The hotels at both the places were excellent; we had a great guide in Varanasi who went beyond the designated tour route and showed us around. The food tour in Lucknow was amazing and re-discovering the Awadhi Cuisine was a great experience – the kebabs were out of the world!
It was a terrific experience to spot the King of the jungle in all their glory at Gir. We had a very good experience overall.
